Infinity

I think that given an infinite life and infinite space, some aspects of life may be better off than with a finite life. Without the fear of death, in my opinion, people would take risks that they wouldn't have taken otherwise. Scientifically, people would make new discoveries that had previously been too dangerous to undertake. They'd go to active volcanoes, dive deep into the earth, and go into space for the sake of making scientific discoveries. People would also take risks that they hadn't taken before, like drive at high rates of speed, do parkour off of the top of apartment buildings, jump over things, etc. Stuff that we deem as "stupid" would become normal occurrences in everyday life. This feeling, however, may not last long.
It would be concerning to some (and eventually all) knowing that they can't die. The point of life is death, so take the end out and there's no beginning. Immediately, people would see it as a blessing, but when they have done all that they wanted to, they would see it as a curse.
Now, with infinite space, people may choose not to explore it. It's intriguing knowing what is out there, but more so when we don't know what's out there. Sure, we could explore farther than we ever could, but why would we if all we could find is stars, galaxies, and life elsewhere? What's the point to wasting millenniums trying to find something else out there?

  1. I completely agree with Shane. If people did not have death to be afraid of they would do everything they wanted to do. People should live this way anyway. Live life to the fullest even though you know that there's an end. But if you do remove the end then you also get rid of the beginning. If there is not a cycle then people would just get bored. You need an ending so that there is a closing chapter. You need to finish something that you started not continue something that is overdue. I do not think there are enough things to do in this world for an eternity. Yes, if people had more time they would make more inventions and discoveries but there is a point in time where people will want to die because they would have finished the life they wanted to live.
