selfishness

I believe that humans truly are selfish. Everything we choose is what benefits ourselves. Although sometimes what benefits us is not what is in our best interest. For example, it may be very extreme, but a person who is addicted to heroine does heroine because they like the way it makes them feel. The pleasure they receive from shooting up is much better than thinking about the fact that it is not in their best interest to do heroine. These people know that they could die any second from an overdose, but they still do it. This is a form of selfishness. Risking your life for your own pleasure. Humans are not the only animals that are selfish, but we are different from the rest of the animal kingdom. We are unique in the choices that we choose for our lives and that is why we are so difficult to understand.
