Journey not Destination

Its a cliche, and everyone has heard it before, "its the journey not the destination". Hell, I've just spent the past six months reading a book that has the quote written on the cover. We as human beings are so preoccupied with where we come from or where we're going that we do not allow ourselves to really appreciate life in the moment. The narrator in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is certainly guilty of this given that he spends all of his time pondering the questions of life and what is to come after. This is somewhat ironic given that he is actually taking full advantage of the physical journey he takes on his bike, yet seems to miss out on the journey of life.
