The Individual (Zane Mandell)

Today’s discussion further into this idea of the most advantageous advantage has sparked the idea of the individual. As I listen and don’t say much in class, I found myself dwelling on the idea of the relationship of individuality to everything that has been said. Individuality is a topic that only applies to humanity. It is the ability to free think and free decide upon those thoughts which lays the foundation for individuality. We are all different from each other, each having our own unique perspective and touch on the world. I feel that this is a vital element to the advantage that trumps all other advantages. I know we have said that ‘choice’ or freedom are at the core of this advantage but I think we have gone too deep, too fast. The individuality that is a result of evolution does in fact create this point where evolution has created something bigger than it can handle. The true aloneness, and the ability for the aloneness to dwell on itself is key to understanding how the individual is. Our narrator is the individual; he is a product of evolution, and uses logical deductions to come to these contradictory conclusions. I have gotten very convoluted for today so will just end there.
