Discussion: 2/19/14

I agree with the narrator’s claims about a completely scientifically and mathematically-based society. Humans cannot operate by simply following a set of rules that has been laid out for them. Spontaneity is good; in fact, it’s necessary. The ability that humans have to act on their own free will is what sets them apart from all other animals. This opportunity that arises once individuals act out of the norm allows people to learn and, subsequently,  progress as a whole. It was mentioned today in class that the individuals who are considered to be the most special and intelligent are the ones who break free from the typical constraints in society. The laws of nature can be extremely limiting, so it is necessary to sometimes push through these walls in order to make progress. The stretching of these boundaries is what leads to the most advantageous advantage; without it, life would be boring.
