Everything
that we are able to justify is done through deduction. That is a compilation of
facts, which we have found to be true from logical reasoning, that allow us to
make decision and form opinions. This in itself is a restrictive wall, as it
fits under the finite and does not allow for applications in the infinite. The narrator
admits that the very subject that he speaks of and resents is still intertwined
within him. Just like my post yesterday this shows that we are who we are and
there are certain facets that we all share and cannot escape.
I feel that
man is most definitely unlike any other product of evolution. We are the only
animal that acts against his own self-interest. But I would like to clarify
quickly in what sense. I believe every man will consciously act in their own self-interest
within their given perspective. But that perspective is most likely flawed and
results in those who act in ways that are detrimental to their selves. It is
more an issue of time frame within the perspective than anything else. Like Mr.
Shapiro got at briefly today, we are a creature inclined for instant
gratification, finding the easy way out. I believe this issue of time within
perspective will be one we talk about in future discussions.
