What is the Goal? (Zane Mandell)

I feel like what we are getting at in class is becoming more and more obscure. I understand that this topic is one where it is impossible to stay within bounds because that is the whole point. But I am wondering more and more why our narrator is writing this. Not why he is writing this to us, but why he is writing on the topic. The purpose of his work is that there really isn’t any purpose, we are nothing and that we will always be flawed. So is there narrator venting, a product of human emotions and flaws. I still don’t think that is the case. I think he just wants to voice what he has thought about for so long just for the sake of doing so. Basically he is bored. His skills in deduction and analysis are unparalleled but he is just bored, voicing everything he hates and despises but has dutifully accepted. What is the goal? Simply: “Why not?”
