comment on 2/20 discussion

The most interesting portion of today’s discussion to me was the debate on how humans are “better” than animals and what distinguished us from them. Through powers of observation, humans seem to have concluded that animals cannot make independent choices or try to form rational thoughts or definitions of themselves relative to humans. Personally, I think that definition is flawed; well any definition is flawed based on this reason, because it is defined by humans. The fact that humans are number one according to humans seems only slightly biased. Who knows, maybe animals do ponder the meaning of life, but that is not the point. The point is that almost all philosophical ponderings are based off of entirely human ideas, every single concept, rule, or norm is created by and for humans. An external society will have no use for our money, seeing as they have no vested interest, and yet we feel compelled to define ourselves as either the controller of the world, or absolute nothing in the world.
