Recklessness

So, from what I understand, you ripped up a $5 dollar bill? That must have been painful to watch, but I've seen $20 ripped in front of my face too. Can I get a $50? $100? Any takers? Didn’t think so.

We are too scared of losing something that we have placed heavy value on, which makes sense. We are not comfortable with loss and must grow accustomed to coping with it, especially when what is lost has high value, be it monetary, emotional, etc. Though it is difficult, reevaluating what is of actual value in this world will make pain easier to deal with when those things are smashed, cracked, burned, trashed, or lost, because the more that we depend on them, the worse it will feel when we realize that all things break and all things die.

So why do we value petty things, but act reckless with things that do matter, such as our own health? I do agree with the fact that it is a method of proving the capabilities of our own free will, but I would also like to believe that we use our knowledge to control this. Sure, we act spiteful with anyone who poses a threat to our power, but I believe one must be intelligent enough to know where to draw the line, like when it affects our health negatively. We cannot be irresponsible.
