The Observer (Class discussion 2/7)

Although being an observer is quite a noble and honorable task for man to undertake, I believe that are not fully capable to fulfill its role. The narrator in Notes from the Underground attempts to maintain neutral is a good versus evil kind of world and as a result, remains in a constant state of suffering. He understands his superiority thorough his separation from the flock yet craves to join them in their idiotic ways. I believe this is to be true because through action, man can be defined. Who is the narrator? The reader does not even know his name besides the mouse in his underground hole. The observer craves to be a man of action so he himself can fully be aware of who he is an how he fits in a world where action is the only method to be noticed.
