Infiniteness

During today’s class, we spoke about the idea of infiniteness and how it affect human thought. We imagined that we were in a space shuttle with infinite supplies and infinite life times going infinitely in one direction at a million times the speed of light, forever. To me, it is difficult to put into words what this idea really does to one thoughts. As discussed in class, when speaking of infinite Earth, nothing is relevant anymore. Our lives are barely relevant to begin with when considering the billions of people in the world, and when we think about infinite time, our lives are the most insignificant things in the universe. The idea that space just goes on and on and on makes me go crazy. It is the one thing that humans cannot even come close to imagining. We have no idea what is out there and how powerful it could be. As Mr. Shapiro said, the Earth is a grain of sand in an infinite beach that is the universe.
