Creationism vs. Evolution (2/6/14) (Alexia Barrios)

If there is one thing that I believe in about science is the idea that it very rarely fails to tell us the truth when done so properly. To use the words of God as evidence to one’s theory in my opinion is not strong enough to disprove what already has been proven with empirical scientific evidence, such as for example the age of Earth. Ham’s literal interpretation of the Book of Genesis on how Earth has only been around for 6,000 years, in my opinion this is incorrect simply due to the fact that science has disproved this theory with radio isotopic and ice core data which proves it has been around for much longer. The concept of Creationism is one that is based off stories that were written millions of years ago and were translated several times. As Bill Nye said, some of the evidence that Ken Ham attempted to use as support for his theory could have been wrong due to the fact that they could have been written incorrectly when translation was being done. Personally, I found Ham’s argument to be completely false with very little evidence to support it simply because I do not find the writings of the Bible to be enough support to debunk scientific evidence.
