In
finishing the book, I feel that the narrator wrote this book to vent out his
feelings. He wrote it to make himself
feel better about his thoughts and his actions, if that makes any sense? He overthinks everything and in writing he can
vent it all out without sounding too crazy aloud. The reason he says something and then changes
his mind a few seconds later is because when you rant you just think whatever
comes to mind. Your thoughts change
every second as you keep writing and thinking more.
I think the narrator cannot handle society. He overthinks everything to the point that he
can’t act normal to anyone because he will not know how to act. This is shown through Liza at the end of the
book. He overthinks his actions from the
night before and cannot stand himself, so he tells her; “I hated you already
because of the lies I had told you,” (page 85).
He doesn’t have the ability to interact with her, so he goes back
“underground” to where he still is while writing this book.
