Contradictions

The narrator seems to be a troubled man with a troubled, complex mind. He seems to be a bit crazy, constantly contradicting himself by providing theories about himself then completely debunking them. An example of this is his spitefulness. He says that he lied to the reader out of spite, and that he did what he did in his past not because of spite, as he never is spiteful (ever.). Initially, I thought that the narrator/writer was a bit off his/her rocker. But now, after the reading, I feel that Dostoyevsky and the narrator are trying to trick my mind, making me re-read page after page. A part of me is hoping that the next reading will be a lot more logical. But another part of me loves this sick, twisted entity that Dostoyevsky brings in this book.
