Projection

Today’s reading was quite insightful. From the beginning I have stated that the narrator has had a deep hatred for himself as he cannot conform to the standards that society has placed on his friends and family; but through Liz the reader is able to receive a full and detailed understanding of the narrator. The 15 some on pages are in fact a story not about Liz, but rather a projection of himself that he has placed upon her. The entire story describes his dreams and desires as well as his deep rooted fears that I somewhat identified earlier in the novel. In fact, Liz I believe represents the narrator himself. He is unable to admit that he is talking about himself so it is easier for him to describe his feelings by placing the blame on her. Her reaction as a matter of fact is what he feels after his soliloquy is completed. I am loving this book more and more and look forward to last segment for tomorrow's post!
