Second Impression

After the second reading, I am still left a bit confused by the narrator's ideas. He uses such a significant amount of complex wording, and he squishes tons of ideas together, that his sentences seem to be run-ons, which only add to his already perplexing thoughts. While his use of language can be rather frustrating, I am still somewhat compelled to continue reading. He does make some interesting points that make me question my initial thoughts, and I find it interesting that he is able to simultaneously confuse and intrigue me. Today in class, Melanie mentioned that we, as readers, cannot trust the narrator because of his constant use of contradictions; I find this to be true. The narrator tells us one thing, and then after going in to deep explanations of his idea, he says something else and completely retracts his initial statement. To me, this is annoying, as we never really have a clear indication as to what the narrator's final point is.
