First discussion

This first class discussion on just two pages of the book, lead me to have a greater understanding of the book as a whole. Listening to everyone's insights we are able combine them to something that fits the novel perfectly. There were many thing said that I had not thought of that contributed to my understanding of the book. What I found particularly helpful was when Megan mentioned that the narrator's pain serves as a distraction from his own mind. I had not considered that as a possible reason for his desire to avoid a doctor, but it makes absolute sense. Further in the novel the narrator proves himself to be an over thinker, cursed in a state of consciousness. While in pain he is allowed to focus on something other then his hatred for himself and his attempts to be less human.
