Silence (Zane Mandell)

Why has this man decided to reflect upon himself and particular events in his life? What is he is trying to prove. Well that is why one says something, to be heard and prove their point of view. He is writing his unknown reader, not looking for a response, but looking to instill himself upon that reader; leave his mark upon another, if you will. He toys with us, teaches us, explains to us, but I still ask why. I find this to be a man who has found direction by losing the concept of it all together. He is aimless in true form but is very focused in thought and practice. While that may not make much sense, I don’t know how else to put it. It seems there are points where no really knows how to put it. I find this quote to be very revealing of the nature of this work: “‘But one is sorry.’ ‘Sorry for whom?’ ‘Sorry for life.’ Silence.” (63). He is questioning everything, and trying to do it without directly addressing his intentions. He does this so well that he loses himself in his thoughts. Why is this man writing? I think his answer may be ‘why not’?
